CLIMATE Action Frodsham is urging local people to attend an Election Hustings to be held at St Paul’s Church, Helsby on Friday (June 28) at 7pm.
They want people quiz the seven candidates for the new Runcorn and Helsby constituency expected to attend on climate change issues.
The seven candidates are: Mike Amesbury (Labour) , Danny Clarke (Liberal), Chris Copeman (Green), Jade Marsden (Conservative and Unionist), Jason Moorcroft (Reform UK), Paul Murphy (Social Democratic Party) and Chris Rowe Liberal Democrats)..
Climate Action Frodsham suggest a number of questions that should be put to candidates.
1. If elected, what measures will you take to ensure that all households meet insulation standards?
-2. If elected, when will your Government pass legislation introducing minimum building standards for all new housing?
-3. What measures will your Government take to ensure that the delayed 2030 climate targets are progressed before 2029?
4. How is your party planning to invest in the Green economy?
5. What support will your party offer to encourage people to move away from diesel and petrol cars, including increasing the public transport on offer?
6. What is your position on global warming?
Climate Action Frodsham also have a question for voters:
Will you be a “Climate Voter?” Will you vote for whichever political party appears to be taking climate matters most seriously.
They point out that Greenpeace has said “Climate voters pledge to vote with climate in mind and hold politicians to account on heir climate policies – now, at the election and in future.”
