CYCLE training for children in school year five who can already ride a bike without stabilisers will take place in Frodsham’s Castle Park on August 27, from 9am to 4pm.
Free training as been arranged by Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Road Safety team.
All training is provided by fully qualified instructors and compliments training currently available through schools
The children will learn how to: Cycle safely and responsibly, Identify and respond to hazards, Start and stop on-road journeys, Maintain suitable riding positions, Share the road with others and communicate with other road users, Comply with signals, signs and road markings, Manage risk when cycling and Negotiate junctions (pass side roads, turn at T junctions, and crossroads and roundabouts if present).
Riders may take their own roadworthy bikes and helmets, but bikes are available to borrow. They should bring a packed lunch in a ruck sack. Parents MUST stay for the first 15 minutes of the course to ensure the bike is roadworthy and the child can ride unaided.
