Green Flag awards for Castle Park and Helsby Quarry

FRODSHAM’S Castle Park and Helsby Quarry have again been awarded Green Flags in the annual national award scheme for parks and green spaces.

They are among 10 Green Flag spaces across Cheshire West and Chester.
The news that all Cheshire West’s flagship sites have achieved the accreditation – the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams, friends of groups and volunteers that care for the borough’s green space for everyone to enjoy them.
The full list of Green Flag awards in Cheshire West is: Caldy Nature Park, Castle Park, Grosvenor Park, Rivacre Valley, Northwich Woodlands, Stanney Fields Park, Westminster Park, Whitby Park, Helsby Quarry and the Wirral Way country park.

Deputy Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cllr Karen Shore said: “Our beautiful parks are vital green spaces for the community in west Cheshire, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.
“Staff, friends of groups and volunteers do so much to ensure that we maintain the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of this achievement.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme manager Paul Todd said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Cheshire West and Chester Council in achieving their 10 Green Flag Awards.”
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
