Fire crews go to help rangers in Delamere Forest blaze

FIRE crews were called out to assist rangers after fire broke out in Delamere Forest today.
A fire engine from Tarporley was sent to the scene close to Ashton Road, in Norley this afternoon.
On arrival they found rangers had doused the area with water but around eight square metres of deep seated fire remained.
They set up a water shuttle to get enough water to the area, and eventually extinguished the blaze which affected an area of about 20 square metres.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for hotspots and ensure the area was safe.
The affected area was left heavily soaked and firefighters were at the scene for around two and-a-half hours.
