Celebrating Helsby High students’ “outstanding” A Level results

YEAR 13 students at Helsby High School were today celebrating as they collected their A Level and Vocational Qualification exam results.
And despite all the challenges posed by the pandemic over the last two years, they were rewarded with very well-deserved success.
Headteacher Martin Hill said: “Despite the circumstances, as a cohort they have done wonderfully well, meeting their challenging targets by making fantastic progress. To achieve an overall pass-rate of 98 per cent, with over a quarter of all grades at A* or A, is an outstanding achievement, particularly for a state school Sixth Form. They fully deserve their success and we wish them well as they now move on from our Sixth Form to their chosen destinations.”
Current director of Sixth Form, Kirsty Lindop added: “We are so proud of how our students have managed their studies and supported each other during their time in the Sixth Form, which even included a term learning ‘remotely’ at home in the spring of 2021. They should be very proud of their achievements and I know that all of their teachers would want to join me in wishing each and every one of them all the very best for the future.”
In recent years Helsby High School’s Sixth Form has consistently been one of the highest-performing in the area and this high level of performance has continued in 2022, with students achieving impressively across the full range of 30 A-Level and Vocational Qualification courses on offer.
Among many very impressive individual performances were Erynn Maddock (who achieved 4 A* grades), Robert Jones (3 A* grades), Connor Ross (3 A*-equivalent grades), Paige Kirkman (the equivalent of 2 A* and 1 A grades) and Megan Pearson (2 A* and 1 A grades). Robert is going on to study Biochemistry at the University of Nottingham, Megan is going to the University of York to study Pyschology and Paige will be studying Occupational Therapy at the University of Salford.
