Hat-trick of Golds for sporty Frodsham pupils

DODGEBALL, football, netball, cricket, new age kurling, athletics…it’s an active life for pupils at Frodsham Primary Academy.

The school has been recognised once again for its high energy programme of sporting activities with another Gold School Sports Mark Award – the third in three years.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012 and run by the Youth Sport Trust.
The scheme recognises and rewards the provision and uptake of school sport, awarding schools that meet the requirements of a set of national standards. Taking part in the process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and helps them to develop an action plan for future progress.
Alice Pemberton, PE Lead at Frodsham Primary Academy, said: “It’s a wonderful accolade for the school and is all down to the hard work of all the children.

“The six School Games values – passion, self-belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork – were developed by young people to recognise how the experience of sport should be epitomised and embodied within schools, and to reflect the ‘spirit’ of the School Games.

“Our children demonstrate these values by really engaging in lots of different sporting activities in and outside school.”

There’s a rich sporting menu at Frodsham, including dodgeball training, football training with Chester FC, netball and cross-country competitions, basketball and new age kurling – adapted from the sport of curling.

Head of School Gemma Callaghan said: “Keeping children active at Frodsham Primary Academy is one of our priorities so it fantastic that our work to encourage involvement in sport has been recognised with this award for the third year running.”
