Outdoor events space plan

Outdoor events space plan for former Frodsham Golf Course

PLANS have been submitted for an outdoor events space on part of the former Frodsham Golf Course.

The proposal, put forward by Sean and Gemma Richards, is being considered by Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning department.
It involves use of a 0.81 hectares section of the former golf course as an outdoor events space for recreational use, including team building activities and outdoor learning activities.
There would be one removable/collapsible tipi, removable toilets, car parking and associated access from Simons Lane together with associated landscaping and fencing.
Frodsham Golf Club closed in 2021 and the former owners sold off sections of the overall site.
It is one of these sections – which has remained unused – that is proposed for the outdoor events space.

The site would be used on only three days a week, and then only when it was fully booked, between April 1 and December 31 between 9am and 8pm.
Existing landscape features would be retained.
Last year, the Woodland Trust commenced ambitious project to plant 40,000 trees on the former golf course, providing habitats for wildlife, access to nature for local communities and locking away carbon. The new woodland will protect the existing ancient semi-natural and secondary woodlands on the site.
At the time it was stated there would be a network of footpaths for informal public access across the site with views of the Sandstone Ridge, River Mersey, Liverpool and the Welsh Hills.
But it was also stated that the site would also be delivering community engagement and education through volunteering and space for outdoor learning.
