THE cricket season finally got under way in the Frodsham area – but it was a disappointing start for the town’s team.
Frodsham were held to 111-5 by Wirral, Adam Crosby top scoring with 34 not out and Tom Wilkinson hitting 20.
Wirral replied with 112-3 with the Frodsham bowlers unable to trouble the opposing batsmen much.
Kingsley took on Middlewich and hit a massive 296-5, opener Ben Stoddart scoring 144 and Alistair Begg 61 not out. Middlewich were bowled out for 118, Ben Ainsworth taking 4-16, Craig Lynch 2-19 and Adrian Burden 2-23.
But Kingsley 2nd travelled to Barrow and lost by five wickets. Kingsley hit 72 with Alex Wilson top scoring with 20 and Barrow replied with 73-5. Fraser Hancock was Kingsley’s most successful bowler with 2-17.
Alvanley played four games at the weekend – and won all four.
On Saturday, the 1st XI played back-to-back T20 games against Barrow and won them both. In the first, Alvanley hit 113-9 and then held Barrow to 74-7 and in the second, Alvanley hit 131-6 and Barrow replied with 87 all out.
While all this was going on, Alvanley 2nd travelled to Oakmere and dismissed them for 118 before replying with 122-5.
On Sunday, In the National Village Cup, Alvanley hit 164 against Broadbottom, Chris Charles scoring 56 not out. Broadbottom were dismissed for 131, Michael Rowland taking 3-25.
