A WORKING group has been set up at Frodsham to consider a competition to “decorate” bus shelters in the town.
The group has been established by local resident Pauline Scott with support from Frodsham Town Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council and local PCSO Neil Flanagan.
Cllr Tom Reynolds has agreed to represent the Town Council on the “Bus Shelter Challenge” working group.
He said: “I think it is a brilliant idea. It could give the town a bit of verve.”
Mrs Scott got the idea after seeing a decorated bus shelter on display at the RHS Tatton Flower Show this year.
Interested groups could decorate bus shelters around the area and compete for a cash prize. The winning shelter would be voted on by residents or a chosen panel.
The decorations would have to be temporary, allow the bus shelter to remain operational, must not damage the shelter and must have regard to health and safety issues.
Mrs Scott said she had received a lot of support and interest from local residents.
It is hoped to arrangement a first meeting of the working group early in October.
