IT was a weekend Frodsham Cricket Club will want to forget – their worst defeat in recent times.
Travelling to Aston, they batted first and put in a decent performance with the ball, restricting the home side to 167-9.
Matt Deakin took 6-22 and James Palliser 2-29.
But after tea, the problems started. Frodsham were bowled out for a humiliating 23 in just 22 overs. Not a single batsman reached double figures.
Doing the damage was Aston bowler Deepak Pilla who took 8-9 in a devastating spell of 11 overs, six of which were maidens.
To make matters worse, Frodsham 2nd could not raise a team and had to concede their game game with Alvanley 3rd.
Kingsley won at Northwich in a low-scoring game which started with the visitors being bowled out for 97.
Only innings of not came from Nirvik Ganapathi who hit 38.
Northwich were bowled out for 44, Ben Stoddart taking 7-27 and Joel Logan 3-16.
Kingsley 2nd won 116 runs, at home to Port Sunlight.
The visitors were all out for 100 after Kingsley had hit 216-5.
Kingsley’s main match-winners were Peter Taylor, 50 and Edward Leneghan with 61 while with the ball, Matt Betteridge took 3-24 and Joe Kitchen, Neil Webb and Jamie Creek took two wickets each.
Alvanley lost by 103 runs at Lindow, who batted first and hit 255-8. M Rowlands, 3-61, was the most successful bowler.
Skipper Alan Reid top scored with 50 as Alvanley replied with 152.
Alvanley 2nd lost at home to Widnes after being restricted to 165-9, David Jones 32. Widnes coasted home with 167-5.
