CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is carrying out a consultation on polling districts and stations across the borough – and that includes the Frodsham, Helsby and Kingsley areas
It asks anyone living in the borough to comment on current polling districts and stations and suggest alternative locations that could be used.
Delyth Curtis chief executive of the council and (acting) returning officer, said: “It is important our residents have an opportunity to cast their vote on election days.
“This review gives everyone the chance to let us know if they have experienced any issues with their polling district or station, or whether they have any concerns about the new ones we have proposed.
“Your comments will help us to make sure that our service is the best it can be at election time.”
Locally, the proposed changes would mean that Frodsham, Helsby, Kingsley, Manley and Alvanley, all currently in the Weaver Vale Parliamentary constituency, would be in the Runcorn and Helsby County constituency.
It will means the Weaver Vale will effectively be wiped off the map as a Parliamentary constituency – something that will please at least one former MP who once lamented that the trouble with being MP for Weaver Vale was that no-one knew where he came from!
The review will also take into consideration the final recommendations of the 2023 parliamentary boundary review undertaken by the Boundary Commission England as follows:
No changes are proposed for local polling stations.
