Cow rescued from River Weaver at Frodsham

FIRE crews from a wide area were called to Frodsham last night after a cow was stranded in a fast flowing section of the River Weaver.
Four fire engines from Runcorn, Widnes, Lymm and Powey Lane went to the scene, off Bradley Lane, together with a water rescue boat and aerial appliance from Lymm.
The cow was stranded in strong currents and the fire service animal rescue team assessed the scene before launching the rescue boat.
Strops were fitted around the frightened animal and farm machinery was used to lift it from the water.
The cow was then handed back to the farmer.
