Four fire crews tackle large fire at remote farm building at Kingsley

FOUR fire crews were called out today, Monday, to tackle a large fire involving a farm building in a remote field at Kingsley.

At 10:46 four fire engines from Frodsham, Northwich, Runcorn and Widnes, later joined by the prime mover and the environmental protection unit from Lymm, were called to Cooks Hill Kingsley, Frodsham.

A large fire involving a workshop in a remote field was tackled by firefighters. The building measured approximately 30 square metres and the fire took hold.

Water was applied to the blaze using ground monitors and a cordon was implemented. Police were also in attendance to close nearby roads and water shuttles were established.

It is suspected there may be an acetylene cylinder in the building so the crews needed to cool everything as much as possible around it to keep its temperature down.

A multi agency meeting took place, with agencies including the Environment Agency, local authority, police and fire. Plans have been made to continue safely tackling this complex incident and a further fire ground inspection is to be made after more cooling has taken place.

UPDATE | 16:15
The incident has been reduced to two fire engines and firefighters are continuing to monitor cylinders and check for hotspots.
