Headteaccher to play

Headteacher to play pupil’s grandma in Frodsham panto!

FRODSHAM headteacher, Ian Devereux-Roberts, is taking on a new, very different role in an upcoming pantomime – “Charlotte and the Chocolate Factory”.
He will play the part of the grandmother to one of his pupils.
Nine-year-old Isla Scott, who attends Frodsham Manor House Primary School, where Ian is the headteacher, will play the part of Charlotte.
She said: “This is my first year of doing Frodsham pantomime. I was shocked and excited to get the role of Charlotte and then chuffed to find out that I was performing alongside my headteacher- it has been loads of fun”.
Ian will be playing the role of Grandma Josephine, the dame, in his first appearance in Frodsham Panto although he is a seasoned pantomime actor.
He said: “I was approached to take the part of Grandma Josephine and thought it looked like a fun role in a well-established local pantomime. Both myself and Isla have found it greatly amusing that I am playing her grandmother on the stage, and it’s given us a lot of laughs in the playground.”
Ian, Isla, and the rest of the cast have been rehearsing hard for the show, which was supposed to happen in January but was postponed due to Covid 19.
Chair of Frodsham Panto Group, Dawn Wheat said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s panto. It has been long awaited after a year off and then us having to make the difficult decision to postpone it at Christmas. People who come and watch, can look forward to a fun-filled time with lots of laughs from a talented cast, director and backstage team.”
Charlotte and the Chocolate Factory is running at Frodsham Community Centre from Thursday May 5 to Sunday May 8, with matinee performances over the weekend.
