RESIDENTS of Kingsley and Norley are among those being given the chance to find out more about the pipelines that deliver high quality water from Wales to the North West and the work that is being carried out to keep them flowing.
United Utilities is hosting a series of open events about the Vyrnwy Aqueduct Modernisation Programme, which will clean and re-line the three parallel pipes that transport water from Lake Vyrnwy to customers across Cheshire.
The project is split into three phases, and with surveys and ground investigations now getting underway within the middle section from Tarporley to Runcorn, United Utilities is inviting local residents to come and find out more at a series of drop-in events over the coming weeks. At the sessions, staff from the water company can answer any questions and explain more about the project and the importance of doing the work.
John Hilton, Programme Director at United Utilities, said: “The Vyrnwy Aqueduct is a fantastic example of innovative engineering and a crucial part of our regional infrastructure that keeps customers’ taps flowing with high quality water.
“We want to give our customers in the area the chance to find out more about the aqueduct and our work, and to ask any questions they may have. Coming along to speak to us will help residents appreciate the scale of the activity and the challenges we face, and also how vital this project is in keeping their taps flowing with high quality water.”
Sessions will take place at Kingsley Community Centre, Smithy Lane, Kingsley, on Tuesday, March 21 and Norley Village Hall, High Street, Norley, on Tuesday March 14
People can drop in at any time to speak to staff from United Utilities, and there will be printed information available to take away. Information on all phases of the work is also available online at: https://uuhub.co.uk/vyrnwy/
