TWO new trails are to be launched in Frodsham’s Castle Park tomorrow (Friday, February 24).
Visitors are invited to go on a free guided tour of the park’s new tree trail, which features three new trees dedicated to the late Queen, King Charles III and the late Marie Birkenhead.
The trees have been installed by the Castle Park Trust.
Famous wood sculptor Simon O’Rourke will also be in action, installing sculptures and carving a sculpture that creates a children’s story trail, featuring the adventures of Matilda the naughty bee.
On Saturday (February 25) graffiti artist Vicki Fogarty will be busy “re-vamping the ramps” at the Saltworks Farm Skate Park, off Ship Street from llam-to 5pm and local youngsters are being invited to meet her and share their ideas for new designs.
Cllr Lynn Riley, one of Frodsham’s councillors on Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “We are delighted to be adding something new and exciting in both Castle Park and Saltworks Farm and hope that this will encourage more people to explore all that Frodsham has to offer.
“Our beautiful listed Castle Park is home to a new story trail that adds a new dimension for children and the young at heart, building on our established tree trail around the park. We hope people are going to love following the adventures in a story that has been written especially for the park by the O’Rourke team.
“Alongside some beautiful chain saw carved features, there are all the ingredients of a good story with heroes, villains and a happy ending. Come and join us and see this story being created on the day- but be warned it will be noisy.”
Cllr Riley added: “We’re hoping for some noise in Saltworks too as our young people pump up the volume and get creative with some new graffiti art at the skate ramps. There are some new features for younger children already in place with new seating to be added as soon as it arrives.”
Funding has come from the Frodsham councillor’s grants with an allocation from an underspend on Covid funding from Government for the pandemic recovery.
The events take place between 11am and 3pm.
