PLANS for 241 affordable homes at Helsby are to go before Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning committee tonight (Tuesday)- with a recommendation for approval.
The site is at Cable Drive, Helsby and the applicant is Lane End Development Construction Ltd and Novar ED&S Ltd.
A number of objections have been received, from local residents and from Helsby Parish Council.
But officers are recommending the scheme be approved subject to conditions that the developer making financial contributions towards the cost of additional education and health care provision and sports pitches.
The committee will b told the site is mainly made up of two, now redudant industrial buildings and hardstanding covering an area of 6.75 hectares.
Altough mainly brownfield there are a number of green spaces and trees and Hornsmill Brooik runs through the centre of the site.
The development will consist of a mix of houses and apartments.
Objections are based on loss of trees, loss of privacy due to three storey apartments, traffic issuees, aesthetic appearance, increased flooding issues, etc.
The parish councils are concerned over a lack of engagements with the parishes or other community groups and businesses
