THE Conservatives have held on to the Frodsham seat on Cheshire West and Chester Council left vacant by the resignation of former Frodsham Mayor Andrew Dawson.
In a by-election contested by Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green parties, Christopher Basey won the seat for the Conservatives in a 44.9 per cent turn out.
The full result announced today was Christopher Basey (Cons) 1481; Sian Day (Green Party) 176; Patrick Eakin (Lib Dem) 384; Michael Garvey (Lab) 1296.
Former councillor Andrew Dawson had resigned the seat to take up the post of head of legal services in the Falkland Islands.
However, in a by-election for a vacant seat in Waterside Ward on Frodsham Town Council, Labour triumphed
.The result was Christopher Basey (Cons) 217 , Patrick Eakin (Lib Dem 125); Lucy Sumner (Labour).340.
There was a 34.7 per cent turn out.
Felicity Davies (Labour) hadpreviously been elected unopposed to a vacant Town Council seat in Lakes Ward.
