MEMBERS of Frodsham Town Council’s amenities committee have agreed to set up a Zoom working group to look at ways of collaborating with Cycle North Cheshire.
Interested members of the public will also be invited to attend the online meetings.
This was agreed after Steve Pemberton, of Cycle North Cheshire, attended a meeting of the committee and reported on the group’s activities.
Councillors Lucy Sumner, Pauline Lowrie and Patrick Eakin have expressed an interest in being involved in the initiative.
Date for the first meeting has yet to be decided – but the cycling group see the Town Council as a key partner in their future activities.
Cycle North Cheshire, which is based on Frodsham, Helsby and other surrounding villages, was formed nearly 10 years ago, as the Weaver and Sandstone Cycle Forum, to promote cycling as a preferred method of transport for commuting and leisure.
The group was subsequently renamed and was an active member of the Cheshire West and Chester Active Travel Forum and were involved in the drafting of the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan.
They have developed and published safe cycling maps for the Frodsham and Helsby area and were involved in the development of the safe, segregated pedestrian and cycleway between Helsby High School and Frodsham, work on which is ongoing and expected to be completed by Easter.
