Firefighters tackle basement blaze at large detached property in Helsby

THREE fire crews were called out on Sunday night to tackle a basement fire at a large detached property in Helsby.

Three fire engines attended at 8.45pm last night, one from Powey Lane, one from Runcorn and one from Ellesmere Port following a report of a smoke alarm sounding at a domestic property on Hill Road North in Helsby.
On arrival the crew discovered that a fire involving an electrical cupboard in the basement of the large detached property had activated the alarm.
Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus at the property.The fire was extinguished with an extended hose reel jet.
A large fan was then used to clear smoke from the property. Firefighters then awaited the arrival of a utility company.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than three-and-a-half hours.
