THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert in the Frodsham area as river levels rose as a result of heavy rain associated with Storm Christoph.
With further rain forecast over the next 48 hours, the possibility of property flooding near the River Weaver could not be ruled out.
At Acton Bridge and Weaverham, where the situation looked likely to be more serious, flooding of property could be expected.
A spokesperson said: “We expect river levels to remain high until Friday. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further flood warnings if necessary.
“Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation.”
The agency will give an update on the situation tomorrow (Thursday) , or as the situation changes.
