Meeting to discuss Frodsham’s future leisure facilities is postponed

A COMMUNITY meeting to set up a project group to consider options for the future of leisure, health and wellbeing and library services for Frodsham and Helsby has been postponed.
Cheshire West and Chester Council say the postponement is due to a clash of dates and that a new date will be made known as soon as possible.
In the meantime – subject to COVID-19 restrictions, Frodsham Leisure Centre will continue on a limited basis.
It was originally hoped to set up a project group involving local stakeholders this month  with the aim of developing draft options by July for the provision of a leisure, health and wellbeing and library service for Frodsham and Helsby.
Almost 2,000 people in Frodsham and Helsby have signed a petition calling for the retention of Frodsham Leisure Centre.
As reported by Frodsham Life in November, this was organised by two local men, John Barrett and Adrian Reese, who has been using the leisure centre for indoor football for more than 20 years.
Mr Reese  says there has been a long-standing lack of maintenance on the leisure centre building
A town the size of Frodsham needs a leisure centre and some investment in leisure facilities was urgently needed, he said. But fears were growing that the council was considering closing the centre.
A report to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s cabinet has acknowledge the need to consider swimming provision in the Frodsham.
