FRODSHAM Life magazine was honoured to be awarded Best News Publication of the Year at the Mayor’s Civic Awards 2019.

The awards ceremony took place aboard the Daniel Adamson steam powered canal tug moored at Sutton Weaver on the evening of Friday 1st November and the “Best news Publication of the Year” award was received by Frodsham Life manager James Balme, who has been at the helm since 2006.

The evening was enjoyable with a presentation given by members and volunteers on the life and history of the Daniel Adamson during its long history dating back to 1903. The Tug boat is part of the National Historic Fleet and is listed number fifteen out of twenty such vessels that include the Cutty Sark, HMS Victory and SS Great Britain.

The award ceremony was hosted by the Mayor of Frodsham Cllr Liam Jones and the award for Best News Publication of the Year was presented to James Balme by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire Mr David Briggs MBE, KStJ. James sprung a surprise on the Lord Lieutenant by presenting him with the latest copy of Frodsham Life at the same time which featured David on the cover.

On receiving the award on behalf of the team at Frodsham Life James said: ‘ I would like to thank everyone here this evening for your continued support of our Frodsham Life magazine. I took on the challenge of managing Frodsham Life way back in 2006 and during the last thirteen years I’ve seen many changes in Frodsham. I hope to continue for many more years to come representing the people of Frodsham and I urge you to speak with us at anytime to let us have your news and views. We are actively involved with the Frodsham community at many levels and I thank you for embracing our publication’.
