FRODSHAM got their cricket season under way with a visit to Glazebury – but went down by seven wickets.
The home side won the toss and decided to field first.
At first it appeared a bad decision as Frodsham made a solid start, putting 35 on the board before Jaymie Smith fell for 19.
Fellow opener Leon Pietizak went on to score a fine 54 but although Greg Murphy chipped in with a useful 24 and Christian Sandbach a patient 16, the rest of the batting fell cheaply and Frodsham ended up on 153 all out.
It was a decent total but, although the home side lost an early wicket, Aussie Anthony Meulman hammered an unbeaten 89, including six sixes and seven fours to take the game with 154-3.
Kingsley lost by a massive 157 runs at Upton after the home side had hit 262-9.
Ben Stoddart and Tom Waring took three wickets each but Upton dominated the bowling.
When Kingsley came to bat, however, things were different and the side were bowled out for 105 in the 34th over.
Opener Stoddart carried his bat for a defiant 42 not out but received little support from the rest of the batters.
Alvanley hosted Ashley and won a high-scoring game by 18 runs.
Batting first, Alvanley hammered 256-7 in 50 overs, Simon Gee top scoring with 77, well supported by Henry Young with 48.
Ashley went for the runs and at 228-6 looked on course for victory. But Chris Charles took the last four wickets cheaply to finish with figures of 4-64 and Alvanley bagged an unlikely victory.
Alvanley 2nd won bv six wickets at Marple while the 3rd XI won by 92 runs hosting The Groves.
