FRODSHAM started the 2023 cricket season in the best possible way – with victories for both the 1st and 2nd teams.
The 1st XI took the honours at Tranmere Victoria where they batted first and scored a modest 108 in 35 overs.
A last wicket partnership between skipper Matt Deakin, 18 and Jamie London, 11 not out got the team passed the 100 mark and, in the end, proved decisive as the home side were dismissed for 97.
James Palliser took 4-22 and Deakin completed a fine all-round performance by taking 3-22.
Frodsham 2nd beat Appleton by 20 runs. Leon Pietrzak top scored with 44 , Simon Tasker hit 29 and Dave Woodall 29 not out as Frodsham totalled 157-4. Appleton were held to 137, Joel Huckley taking 2-30.
Kingsley beat Barrow by 42 runs in a low-scoring affair. Kingsley hit 95, skipper Haris Yassim top scoring with 26 and then bowled out Barrow for just 51, Jack Logan taking 5-20 and Michael Yeates 3-9.
Kingsley 2nd won by eight wickets after restricting Neston to 155-6, Michael Betteridge taking 2-46. Kingsley responded with 156-2, Kingsley Warman hitting 643 not out, Alex Wilson 40 not out and skipper Jamie Creek 34.
Alvanley beat Macclesfield by 36 after totalling 170, Lee Ainsworth 46 and skipper Michael Rowlands 31.
Rowlands was again on form when he took 4-26 as Macclesfield were bowl3ed out for 134. Chris Charles took 3-35.
Alvanley 2nd lost by nine wickets to Timperley aftetr being bowled out for 84 but Alvanley 3rd made up for that by an eight wicket victory over Barrow.
