Frodsham’s fine, six-wicket victory

FRODSHAM raced to a fine, six-wicket victory at home to Malpas.
It was a low-scoring game, with the visitors asked to bat first and bowled out for 97.
Frodsham used five bowlers – Matt Deakin, Sohail Mona, Jack McGrogan, James Palliser and Dave Woodall – and they each picked up two wickets.
After tea, Frodsham hit off the runs in 25 overs for the loss of four wickets .
Opening bat Mona hit 39.
In a friendly match on Sunday, a Frodsham XI beat Rainhill by seven wickets.
Rainhill were restricted to 126-7, with Nithin Gopalakrishnan taking 3-7.
Frodsham reached their target for the l oss of three wickets, with Sohail Mona again on form hitting a lively 35 not out and Jim Morrell hitting 30 not out.
Kingsley drew a hard-fought game with Ashley.
Batting first, Ashley hit 243-8 despite Ben Stoddart’s 3-46.
At 75-6, Kingsley looked in serious trouble, but Martyn Jenks hit an unbeaten 70 and Charlie Loy came up with 47 to earn a draw on 216-8.
Alvanley lost by 10 runs in a close fought game at home to Timperley.
The visitors hit 200 and Alvanley were dismissed for 190 in the 50th over.
Stephen Charles had a good game, hitting 51 and taking 3-51.
