Fire crew tackles grass fire on Overton Hill

FIREFIGHTERS had to make their way on foot to extinguish a grass fire on Overton Hill, Frodsham today (Thursday)
The crew from Runcorn tackled the 25 sq metres blaze shortly after 10am, using beaters and water backpacks, after leaving their fire engine at Frodsham War Memorial and making the rest of the way on foot.
After the fire was out they dampened down the area, which contained peat.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
