Fire crews deal with difficult chimney blaze at Frodsham

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Chapel Lane, Frodsham yesterday (Sunday) to deal with a difficult chimney fire.
The crews from Runcorn and Lymm used chimney rods to tackle most of the chimney, using a thermal imaging camera to access the seat of the blaze and monitor heat levels.
Ash and damaged brickwork was removed from the fireplace and the thermal imaging camera was brought into use to carry out more monitoring.
But they were unable to reach the second floor of the chimney with the rods, and unable to use ladders because of a weak tiled roof so an aerial ladder platform was called from Lymm to tackle the fire from above. Water was also used from the base.
Once the monitors showed no further signs of heat the incident was handed over to the occupier.
