Labour sweep to victory in Frodsham – and across West Cheshire

LABOUR captured both the Frodsham seats on Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) as they strengthened their grip on the authority.

It was a disappointing night for the Conservatives – particularly for Lynn Riley who had represented the Frodsham ward since 2004, first on the former Vale Royal Council and then on CWaC.

The results in Frodsham were:
Michael Garvey (Lab) 1537; Lucy Sumner (Lab) 1422; Lynn Riley (Cons) 1162; Sara Wakefield (Cons) 1024; Christine Webber (Green) 312; Patrick Eakin (Lib Dem) 235; Jason Moorcroft (Reform UK) 162; Ross Sibson (Lib Dem) 150.
Overall, across Cheshire West, Labour claimed a 46.74 per cent share of the vote and the Conservatives 31.24.

A jubilant Labour spokesperson said the results vindicated their policies across Cheshire West since they took control of the council.
The Conservatives felt they had suffered as a result of national issues at a difficult time for the Government as a result of the pandemic and the resulting global economic situation.
The results in the Frodsham Town Council election in Waterside Ward:
Frodsham Town Council – Waterside Ward
EAKIN, Patrick Thomas: 192 (elected)

LOFTS, Richard Ian: 139.
PENNINGTON, Frank Rodney: 274 (elected)

It is hoped to co-opt additional members to the council at its annual meeting at 7pm on Monday May 22.
