MP praises affordable housing developments

EDDISBURY MP Edward Timpson has praised two new affordable housing developments by Weaver Vale Housing Trust at Tarporley.
Mr Timpson made his remarks during a visit to the two developments which have provided a total of 32 affordable homes in the popular village.
Twenty maisonette-style homes have been completed at Tarporley and 12 more have been acquired at the former Beeston Cattle Market site where Eaton Homes are carrying out a development of 84 homes towards the end of the year.
Mr Timpson praised the open green spaces which new residents are already enjoying in the warm weather. He also opened the development’s new playground.
The scheme also has electric vehicle charging points, bike storage, and solar panels to ensure the homes are fit for a greener future.
Recently-completed the development has been part-funded by Homes England, and brings much-needed affordable housing to the area.
Weaver Vale Housing Trust worked closely with Tarporley Parish Council to ensure the homes meet the needs of local people.
The development is part of Weaver Vale’s commitment to delivering new affordable homes across Cheshire and Warrington.
On completion, seven of the homes at the cattle market site will be available for affordable rent, and five for shared ownership – a scheme that helps people get a foot on the housing ladder by allowing them to purchase a percentage of their home and pay rent on the remaining share.
Gareth Rigby, executive director of Place at Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said: “We are committed to providing high-quality, affordable homes in Cheshire, and it’s been a privilege to see people putting roots down as they move into Tarporley. “Sustainability is also a significant priority for us, so these eco-friendly homes have been built to be enjoyed by future generations. “
Mr Timspon said: “I’m pleased to see the progress made by Weaver Vale Housing Trust on the old Beeston Cattle Market site, and, in particular, the provision of new affordable homes with proper amenities for families – such as the new playground I was fortunate to open.
“The reinstatement of the Beeston and Tarporley Railway Station that I am sponsoring in Parliament will not only enhance connectivity for the occupiers of these new homes, but also provide crucial access to the jobs and services available in Chester, Crewe and beyond, to new and existing residents alike.
“By bringing back our railway station, we’re not only improving transportation options, but also ensuring the seamless integration of this new housing, reducing its impact on road traffic, and creating a vibrant and connected community for all residents.
“It is a significant step towards building a sustainable and thriving future for Tarporley. And I am grateful to Weaver Housing for inviting me to see part of it!”
