POLICE are seeking information from members of the public following a crash on the A56 Chester Road, Helsby, early today involving a gritting lorry.
The crash, at around 1am, involved a Cheshire West and Chester gritting lorry which had collided with a house near to Lower Robin Hood Lane.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure: although he is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.
All occupants of the building are safe and well. They were temporarily moved to alternative accommodation with friends and family.
As a result of the collision the A56 was fully closed at Helsby and police said it was likely to remain closed for most of the morning.
Gas and electricity supplies were isolated and a police spokesperson said it could be some time before the lorry could be moved because of doubts about the stability of the house.
Diversions were put in place via the M56.
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 271042.
