Woman taken to hospital after one vehicle collision on M56

A woman was taken to hospital following a one vehicle collision on the M56 westbound near Frodsham earlier today.

Two fire engines attended, one from Runcorn and one from Lymm were called to reports of a one-vehicle collision on the M56 westbound, between junctions 11 and 12 at 12.30pm.
On arrival smoke was coming from the saloon’s car bonnet and the driver was being assessed by paramedics.
She was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The first lane of the motorway was closed whilst emergency services worked at the scene.
Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove the car’s bonnet so that they could cool down the engine with a hose reel jet.
They made the car safe and were in attendance for more than 45 minutes.
Highways England also attended.
The car was removed by a recovery truck.
