IT was business as usual at the annual Frodsham Downhill Run and Festival in the Park, as local runner Christopher Larkin crossed the finish line first!

Now aged 19, it was the seventh consecutive win for the member of Halton & Frodsham Harriers club.

Town Mayor Liam Jones also took part in the Downhill Run.

The finish of the “Frodsham Downhill Run”, which this year involved 262 runners, heralded the start of the annual festival in the Park organised by the local Rotary club.

With the sun shining it set the scene for a perfect day with the galleries and shops of Castle Park Arts Centre open along with several art and craft displays, and of course some shared live entertainment from those performing on the main stage.

Uniquely this year young pupils from St Luke’s, Manor House, Frodsham CE and Weaver Vale Primary Schools replicated the Peace celebrations of July 1919 to commemorate the end of WW1 on the To Field. This took the form of traditional sports day and a parade to the stage afterwards.

As usual, children and the young were entertained throughout the day with rides and attractions in the children’s fun fair along with shows and features designed for older children.

Rotary in Frodsham & Helsby works very closely with Castle Park Arts Centre, members of Frodsham Town Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council to put together the Festival. The Downhill Run is organised by Frodsham Community Association.
