Free parking will still be available for Blue Badge holders

BLUE badge holders will still be able to park free for four hours in Frodsham and Helsby when parking fees are introduced later this month.
Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) is ensuring that all badge holders will benefit from four hours’ free parking at Moor Lane, Frodsham and Station Avenue, Helsby by displaying a valid badge and time clock.
At Frodsham Station, four hours’ free parking will be available thanks to a special microchip sticker. In order to qualify for this offer blue badge holders will be required to obtain a free sticker, containing an electronic chip, to attach to the badge itself.
The application form is online on the council’s website at: https://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/residents/transport-and-roads/parking-and-permits/blue-badge-scheme/parking.aspx and the chips can be collected from Frodsham library.
On arrival at the car park the chip attached to the blue badge can be presented at the entrance and exit barriers to allow entry and exit within four hours.  Parking over four hours will require a payment and charges are shown on signage within each car park.
New charges and length of stay restrictions are planned to come into effect in Frodsham and Helsby on Wednesday, July 31.
Anyone with questions about the new arrangements for car parking in Frodsham and the stickers for Blue Badge holders can call into two drop-in sessions which have been arranged on the following dates:
Wednesday July 10 at 12pm to 2.30pm – Frodsham Library
Monday July 15 at 4pm to 7pm – Frodsham Leisure Centre
Anyone with questions about the new parking arrangements or blue badge stickers can speak to council officers at these informal drop-in sessions.
The council’s lead member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Cllr Karen Shore (pictured) said: “Cheshire West and Chester Council takes pride in access to facilities for disabled people in our borough.  The council was one of the first in the country to offer this facility to blue badge holders for the pay on exit car parks in Chester.
“Our officers will be happy to talk to anyone with questions about the new car parking and Blue Badge arrangements at the two drop-in sessions in the town.  No appointment is needed, just pop in.”
